MUMBAI (Diya TV) — Adani Group plans to invest $100 billion by 2035 to build green-powered, AI-ready data centers across India. The move signals a bold bet on India’s rise as a global hub for artificial intelligence and cloud computing. Billionaire chairman Gautam Adani said the company wants to help shape what he calls an “Intelligence Revolution.” The investment could create one of the world’s largest integrated data center platforms and strengthen India’s AI infrastructure.

Adani Group said the $100 billion investment will focus on renewable energy-powered data centers. The company aims to meet the growing demand for AI computing, cloud services, and digital storage. The company expects the project to spark an additional $150 billion in investment across server manufacturing, advanced electrical systems, and related sectors over the next decade. In total, the initiative could help build a $250 billion AI ecosystem in India.

Adani’s flagship firm, Adani Enterprises, shared the plan in a regulatory filing on Tuesday. Its shares closed 2.7% higher in Mumbai. The stock ranked among the top gainers on India’s benchmark Nifty 50. Shares of Adani Green Energy also rose nearly 2% following the announcement.

The new push builds on Adani’s existing data center operations under AdaniConnex. The venture currently operates about 2 gigawatts of national data center capacity. The group now plans to scale that to 5 gigawatts.

AdaniConnex is a joint venture between Adani Group and EdgeConnex. Together, they aim to create what Adani calls the world’s largest integrated data center platform. The company said it will power many of these facilities with renewable energy. That aligns with India’s broader clean energy goals and rising demand for sustainable digital infrastructure.

The announcement comes as India seeks a stronger role in the global AI race. Leaders and technology executives gathered this week for the country’s AI Impact Summit, a five-day event focused on artificial intelligence and innovation.

Global tech leaders, including Sam Altman of OpenAI and Sundar Pichai of Alphabet Inc., are expected to attend. Organizers describe the summit as the first major international AI gathering hosted in the Global South. Adani said India will not remain just a consumer of AI tools. Instead, he said the country will build and export AI-driven solutions.

“The world is entering an Intelligence Revolution more profound than any previous Industrial Revolution,” Adani said in a statement. He added that India plans to become a creator and builder in the AI age.

Adani said the company’s vision includes strategic partnerships with Google. The group also said it is in talks with other major players to develop large-scale AI data center campuses across India. It did not provide further details.

Alphabet, Google’s parent company, announced in October that it would invest $15 billion over the next five years to build an AI data center hub in southern India. The move underscores growing global interest in India’s digital infrastructure market. India offers strong growth potential. The country has a large tech workforce, expanding internet access, and rising demand for cloud services. Companies see opportunity in AI computing, data storage, and advanced digital services.

Shares of Adani Group companies have shown volatility in recent weeks. Stocks fell sharply after court filings revealed that the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission sought to send a summons to Gautam Adani and his nephew, Sagar Adani, over alleged bribery and fraud charges.

Federal prosecutors in New York indicted Gautam Adani and seven others in November 2024 in connection with an alleged bribery and fraud scheme. The company has not publicly detailed its legal strategy. The SEC said India’s Ministry of Law and Justice declined twice last year to deliver the summons under the Hague Convention.

Despite legal challenges, Adani continues to push forward with large-scale investments in renewable energy and digital infrastructure. The planned $100 billion data center investment highlights the company’s long-term strategy to dominate AI-ready infrastructure in India. As global demand for artificial intelligence and cloud computing grows, Adani’s bet could reshape India’s role in the digital economy.
