MIAMI (Diya TV) —

Back to back to back. Argentina continues its reign atop the football world after a 1-0 win against Colombia in the Copa América final. Along with the World Cup and last Copa America title, the club has won three straight major men’s tournaments.

But before this game could get started, there was a delay due to fans storming into Hard Rock Stadium without tickets. This caused a lot of panic among the supporters and event staff alike. To combat this, the gates were opened to all fans to ensure that no one got crushed. Miami-Dade County Mayor Daniella Levine Cava and Chief Public Safety Officer James Reyes were appalled by what transpired at one of the city’s premier venues.

Let’s be clear: This situation should never have taken place and cannot happen again,” they said in a joint statement.

These events are noteworthy since the 2026 World Cup is being held in the United States with Hard Rock Stadium serving as a host venue. Crowd control and event planning are expected to be at a supreme standard for the biggest soccer tournament on the planet.

The match eventually got started nearly 90 minutes after it was originally scheduled to begin. It was a gritty contest that had both teams being held off the scoreboard for all of regular time. A big moment came when Argentinian superstar Lionel Messi got hurt and had to come off the field in tears. At 37 years old, depending on the severity of the injury (ankle), it could be the last time Messi suits up for Argentina.

However, the team made sure to rally in his absence. Lautaro Martinez, Argentina’s top goal scorer this tournament, delivered the winner in extra time. The goal brought home Argentina’s 16th Copa America title and Messi saw his tears of pain turn into joy. Next up for the back-to-back Copa América champs is a match against Euro winners Spain in the Finalissima.
