PHILADELPHIA (Diya TV) —

Former President Donald Trump, while conducting a campaign rally outside of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, was shot in the upper part of his right ear.

Secret Service surrounded the former President and presumptive Republican nominee and ushered him off stage. Before he left though, Trump raised his arm in the air to indicate to the crowd that he was not gravely wounded as blood streamed from his ear to his face.

The Trump campaign and the Secret Service released statements shortly after the shooting stating the former President is fine and being examined at an area hospital.

In a statement released on Truth Social Saturday night, Trump revealed he was shot and gave thanks to law enforcement:

At least one rally attendee and the gunman are dead according to the Butler County District Attorney.  Two other spectators were critically injured.

Late Saturday night, the Federal Bureau of Investigation issued a statement identifying 20-year-old Thomas Mathew Crooks of Bethel Park, Pennsylvania as the shooter. No motive has been determined at this time.

President Biden released a statement over the attempted assassination, saying “I have been briefed on the shooting at Donald Trump’s rally in Pennsylvania. I’m grateful to hear that he’s safe and doing well. I’m praying for him and his family and for all those who were at the rally, as we await further information. Jill and I are grateful to the Secret Service for getting him to safety. There’s no place for this kind of violence in America. We must unite as one nation to condemn it.”

The President later gave brief remarks from Delaware after speaking to the former President:

The attempted assassination of the former president occurred just two days before the start of the Republican National Convention, where Trump is expected to accept the GOP nomination for President on Thursday.

Vice President Harris, who was campaigning in Pennsylvania as well on Saturday, released a statement saying “I have been briefed on the shooting at former President Trump’s event in Pennsylvania. Doug and I are relieved that he is not seriously injured. We are praying for him, his family, and all those who have been injured and impacted by this senseless shooting. We are grateful to the United States Secret Service, first responders, and local authorities for their immediate action. Violence such as this has no place in our nation. We must all condemn this abhorrent act and do our part to ensure that it does not lead to more violence.

Trump was seen disembarking in New Jersey late Saturday night after receiving treatment, headed for his Bedminister Golf Course and Estate, the same venue where Diya TV interviewed the former President in 2022.
