Zakir Hussain will perform this summer in the TD James Moody Jazz Festival.

NEW YORK (Diya TV) — Tabla maestro Zakir Hussain, along with accomplished bassist Dave Holland and singer Shankar Mahadevan will perform at the New Jersey Performing Arts Center’s Prudential Hall on Nov. 5.

The performance, which has been dubbed “Crosscurrents,” will be delivered as part of the TD James Moody Jazz Festival. Other notable musicians such as saxophonist Chris Potter, Jazz Pianist Louiz Banks, guitarist Divecha and drummer Gino Banks will also join the concert.

Hussain is widely recognized as one of the greatest and most influential musicians of his generation. A classical tabla virtuoso of the highest order, his performances have helped established him as a national treasure in his home nation of India, and as one of the country’s reigning cultural ambassadors. Crosscurrents attempt to portray all directions of inspiration between the idioms of jazz and Indian music.

As a master of tone and rhythm, Dave Holland is regarded as one of the world’s finest jazz musicians. The bassist, composer, and bandleader, now in his fifth decade as a performer, produces music which possesses a rich and kaleidoscopic history. Holland brings a vivid personal imprint to the music he performs and stamps it with a sound that transcends any arbitrary descriptions of genre or format.
