SAN FRANCISCO (Diya TV) — Varun Sivaram, the Acting Director of Energy Security and Climate Change of the Council on Foreign Relations, has been named to the 2017 edition of Forbes’ “30 Under 30: Law & Policy” list.

Sivaram leads the energy and climate change program at the Council on Foreign Relations, and also serves as an adjunct professor at Georgetown University teaching “clean energy innovation.”

He additionally serves as the strategic adviser to New York Governor Andrew Cuomo’s office. Sivaram previously advised Hillary Clinton’s presidential campaign on energy policy. A Rhodes scholar, Sivaram completed his Ph.D. at Oxford University and serves on the advisory boards of Stanford’s energy and environment institutes.

The Forbes 30 Under 30: Law & Policy list seeks to recognize those who are actively championing individual rights and political movements, and has an acceptance rate less than four percent. The honorees are announced after they undergo a vetting and judgement process by the list’s alumni, who vote for the winners each year.

This year’s featured winner is Hope Hicks, the 28-year-old who rocketed to promise last year as the one-woman press team for then-Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump. Now, before the age of 30, she’s the Strategic Communications Director at the White House.
