WASHINGTON (Diya TV) — Second Lady Usha Vance highlighted diaper insecurity Monday as part of National Diaper Need Awareness Week, encouraging Americans to support diaper banks and families with young children.
Vance posted a video on X thanking diaper banks that provide diapers, wipes and other supplies to families. She encouraged people to donate, volunteer or support a diaper bank in their community.
Vance also referenced her experience as a new parent. She and Vice President JD Vance welcomed their fourth child, Alec Neel Vance, on July 19.
“Our fourth baby is just a few weeks old, and his birth has reminded me how all new parents need support from their friends, families, and communities,” Vance said in the video.
National Diaper Need Awareness Week runs from Sept. 14 through Sept. 20 this year. The National Diaper Bank Network organizes the annual campaign to raise awareness about families who cannot consistently afford enough diapers.
The organization’s 2026 national survey found that 40% of U.S. households with children under age 4 who use diapers reported diaper insecurity. Among households with incomes up to 200% of the federal poverty guideline, 62% reported experiencing diaper insecurity.
The National Diaper Bank Network works with local organizations across the country to distribute diapers and other basic necessities to families.
