WASHINGTON (Diya TV) — President Donald Trump said Sunday that U.S. forces carried out another strike against Iran to honor three American service members believed to have died. He also claimed Iran had suffered severe military losses and said the United States now controlled the Strait of Hormuz.
Trump made the comments after stepping off Air Force One before boarding Marine One. He briefly answered questions from reporters about Iran, regional security, a new Air Force One aircraft, Canadian wildfires, and relations with Spain.
Trump said the latest military action honored U.S. troops who lost their lives while serving. However, he did not identify the service members or explain the circumstances surrounding their deaths.
“We feel very badly,” Trump said. He praised the service members as patriots and repeated that Iran must not obtain a nuclear weapon.
The president also claimed recent U.S. military operations had significantly weakened Iran’s armed forces. He said Iran had lost most of its military strength and now had only limited missile, drone, and manufacturing capabilities. However, he did not provide evidence to support those claims.
Trump also made a strong statement about the Strait of Hormuz. He said the United States controlled the strategic waterway and claimed Iran no longer had control there.
“We control the Strait. They don’t control anything,” Trump said. He also said U.S. forces struck Iran again that night in honor of the service members believed to have died.
The Strait of Hormuz remains one of the world’s most important shipping routes. It connects the Persian Gulf with the Gulf of Oman and the Arabian Sea. Every day, a large share of the world’s oil and liquefied natural gas moves through the narrow passage. As a result, any military conflict in the area could disrupt global energy supplies and increase oil prices. Countries that rely on imported energy, including India, could also feel the economic impact.
Trump did not discuss the operational details of the reported strike. He also did not say where the attack occurred or whether it caused additional casualties or damage.
During the exchange with reporters, Trump also answered questions about a Qatari aircraft expected to serve as Air Force One. He said the aircraft already had many capabilities. However, he added that officials planned to send it for additional upgrades.
According to Trump, the aircraft will receive its maximum level of equipment during a process expected to last about one month. He did not provide further details about the planned improvements or the specific defensive systems involved.
Trump also addressed smoke from wildfires in Canada that has drifted into parts of the United States. He said he recently discussed the issue with Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney.
The president said the wildfire smoke had affected American air quality. He added that the United States would help Canada if needed. However, he also suggested Canada might have to compensate the United States or face tariffs if the problem continued.
Despite those comments, Trump said he maintains a good relationship with Carney.
Reporters also asked Trump whether Spain’s recent World Cup victory had created tensions between the two countries. Trump dismissed the suggestion and said he had no tensions with Spain or any other nation.
