WASHINGTON (Diya TV) — President Trump signed an executive order directing the declassification of records related to the assassinations of President John F. Kennedy, Senator Robert F. Kennedy, and Reverend Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. The move, described by the White House as a step toward providing “the truth after six decades of secrecy,” aims to shed light on the events surrounding these iconic figures’ deaths.
Trump’s executive order requires the Director of National Intelligence and other officials to present a plan within 15 days for the full release of documents related to the JFK assassination. The order also mandates an immediate review of the records concerning RFK and MLK, with a plan for their release due within 45 days.
This step follows Trump’s previous efforts in his first term when he initiated the process of declassifying documents associated with the JFK assassination. The President John F. Kennedy Assassination Records Collection Act of 1992 mandated the release of all associated documents after 25 years; however, there were exceptions to this based on national security reasons.
