WASHINGTON (Diya TV) — A senior official at the U.S. Department of Justice has directed multiple U.S. attorneys’ offices to develop plans for investigating organizations funded by billionaire philanthropist George Soros. This move follows President Donald Trump’s recent public calls for Soros and his son, Alex, to face federal racketeering charges under the RICO Act.

The directive, confirmed by sources familiar with the matter, instructs at least seven U.S. attorneys’ offices to assess potential criminal activities linked to groups supported by Soros. The memo outlines possible charges, including arson and material support for terrorism. This action marks a significant departure from long-standing Justice Department practices designed to shield investigations from political influence.

President Trump has repeatedly accused Soros and his organizations of financing violent protests across the United States. In a post on his social media platform, Truth Social, Trump claimed that Soros and his son should be charged under the RICO Act, alleging their involvement in supporting violent protests and causing harm to the country. He further criticized Soros’ associates, referring to them as “psychopaths” and “Crazy, West Coast friends,” and warned that the administration is monitoring them.

The Open Society Foundations, established by Soros, has denied these allegations, emphasizing its commitment to promoting human rights and democratic values without endorsing violence.

Legal experts express concern that the Justice Department’s involvement in this matter may undermine its independence. Historically, the department has operated with a degree of autonomy to prevent political interference in legal proceedings. Critics argue that the current actions could erode public trust in the institution’s impartiality.

The investigation has intensified partisan divisions. Supporters of President Trump view the probe as a necessary step to address alleged misconduct, while opponents argue that it represents a politically motivated attack on a prominent liberal figure. The situation underscores the ongoing debate over the balance between political influence and legal processes in the United States.

The Justice Department’s recent directive to investigate Soros-funded organizations, coupled with President Trump’s public calls for legal action, signifies a notable development in the intersection of politics and law enforcement. As the situation unfolds, it will likely continue to be a focal point of national discussion regarding the independence of the Justice Department and the role of political figures in influencing legal proceedings.
