WASHINGTON (Diya TV) — India is making a mark as a global leader in semiconductor design and wireless technology. Ahead of the country’s flagship semiconductor event, Semicon India 2025, Chris Ripley, President and CEO of Sinclair, praised India’s expertise in the field and highlighted the nation’s growing influence on global technology.

Chris Ripley, whose company, Sinclair, is one of the largest media firms in the U.S., said India’s talent in semiconductor design is unmatched. “We recognized that the expertise available in India was second to none in the world. We’ve invested heavily in India to produce next-generation wireless technologies,” he said.

Ripley demonstrated a tablet powered by a D2M chip designed entirely in India. He said the device is “a great example of how India is leapfrogging the rest of the world in critical wireless technologies and semiconductor design.” He added that India’s innovations are driving new products not only in the U.S. but globally.

Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi will inaugurate Semicon India 2025 at Yashobhoomi in New Delhi on Tuesday. The three-day conference, running from September 2 to 4, will focus on building a resilient, sustainable, and robust semiconductor ecosystem in India.

The event will feature sessions on the progress of the Semicon India Programme, semiconductor fab and advanced packaging projects, infrastructure readiness, smart manufacturing, R&D innovations, artificial intelligence, investment opportunities, and state-level policy implementation.

The conference will also spotlight initiatives under the Design Linked Incentive (DLI) scheme. It will explore the growth of startups, international collaborations, and India’s roadmap to becoming a global semiconductor hub.

Semicon India 2025 is expected to host more than 20,750 attendees. This includes over 2,500 delegates from 48 countries and more than 150 speakers, including over 50 global leaders. The event will also feature more than 350 exhibitors, six-country roundtable discussions, country pavilions, and dedicated pavilions for workforce development and startups.

Global semiconductor conferences like Semicon aim to highlight technological advancements and strengthen national semiconductor policies. India’s conference stands out by bringing international leaders and innovators to collaborate and share insights.

India has consistently worked to position itself as a hub for semiconductor design, manufacturing, and technology development. Previous conferences were held in Bengaluru in 2022, Gandhinagar in 2023, and Greater Noida in 2024. These events showcased India’s capabilities and attracted global investment and collaboration.

Prime Minister Modi has emphasized the strategic importance of semiconductors. He sees the sector as critical to India’s economic growth, technological innovation, and global competitiveness. Semicon India 2025 will further this vision by promoting research, development, and cutting-edge manufacturing in the country.

Industry leaders like Ripley are investing in India to harness its skilled workforce. They aim to create next-generation wireless technologies that fuel both local and global markets. The D2M chip in Ripley’s tablet exemplifies the potential of Indian semiconductor design.

By facilitating collaboration between startups, global corporations, and government agencies, India is creating a strong ecosystem for innovation. The country is emerging as a key player in semiconductors and wireless technologies, setting standards for the rest of the world.
