NEW DELHI (Diya TV) — Dutch chipmaker Nexperia and Tata Electronics announced a partnership Thursday to manufacture, assemble and test semiconductors in India.

The companies plan to produce Nexperia’s MOSFET chips at Tata Electronics’ upcoming 300-millimeter semiconductor fabrication plant in Dholera, Gujarat. MOSFETs control and switch electrical power in products including automobiles, industrial equipment and consumer electronics.

Tata Electronics plans to invest about $11 billion in the Dholera facility, which the company is developing as India’s first commercial 300-millimeter semiconductor fab.

The partnership also covers assembly and testing of Nexperia’s discrete semiconductor products at Tata Electronics’ facility in Jagiroad, Assam. The companies said they will also cooperate on semiconductor technology, research and ecosystem development. They did not disclose financial terms or production volumes.

The agreement comes as Nexperia remains locked in a dispute with its Chinese parent company, Wingtech Technology. Dutch authorities intervened in 2025 over concerns about the potential transfer of Nexperia technology and operations to China, and a Dutch court later stripped Wingtech of control over the company.

China temporarily restricted exports of Nexperia chips packaged in the country during the dispute, disrupting supplies for automakers and electronics manufacturers. The broader ownership dispute remains unresolved. A Chinese court in August froze about $300 million of Nexperia assets in China as part of separate litigation involving Wingtech.

Nexperia, headquartered in the Netherlands, produces semiconductors used in automotive, industrial, communications and consumer products. The company employs more than 12,500 people worldwide.

Tata Electronics is investing about $14 billion across its semiconductor fabrication plant in Gujarat and assembly and testing facility in Assam. The company has also signed semiconductor partnerships with firms including ASML and Synopsys as it builds out its manufacturing operations in India.

The companies did not announce when production under the Nexperia partnership will begin.
