BOZEMAN, Mont. (Diya TV) — Sridhar Ramaswamy is now the new CEO at Snowflake, a data cloud company based in Montana. Succeeding the long-time CEO Frank Slootman, who retired on February 27. Ramaswamy’s appointment also includes a seat on Snowflake’s Board of Directors.

Ramaswamy, who hails from Tamil Nadu and immigrated to the United States in 1989, holds a Ph.D. in computer science from Brown University and a B.Tech degree in Computer Science from IIT Madras.

Before joining Snowflake, Ramaswamy co-founded Neeva in 2019, which Snowflake acquired in 2023. His tenure at Snowflake commenced in May 2023, where he served as the senior vice president of AI, spearheading the company’s AI strategy. Under his leadership, Snowflake launched Snowflake Cortex, a fully managed service simplifying AI for users to drive business value efficiently.

Prior to Snowflake, Ramaswamy spent over 15 years at Google, ascending to the role of Senior Vice President (SVP) of Ads & Commerce. He also held notable research positions at prestigious institutions like Bell Labs, Lucent Technologies, and Bell Communications Research (Bellcore). Additionally, Ramaswamy served as a Venture Partner at Greylock Partners and currently sits on the board of trustees at Brown University.

Snowflake, a data cloud company, empowers organizations to harness their data effectively. Thousands of customers, including a substantial portion of the Forbes Global 2000, rely on Snowflake’s Data Cloud to drive their businesses forward.

Following Slootman’s retirement, Ramaswamy’s appointment as CEO comes amidst projections of lower-than-expected annual revenue for Snowflake. Analysts speculate on the impact of emerging products like Iceberg Tables, highlighting potential shifts in storage sales. Despite these challenges, some analysts view Snowflake’s revenue projections as conservative, given the growth trajectory of data storage and analytics products, augmented by AI.

As Ramaswamy steps into his new role, Snowflake navigates a period of transition, marked by leadership changes and market dynamics. With his extensive experience and vision, Ramaswamy is poised to guide Snowflake into its next phase of growth and innovation.
