WASHINGTON (Diya TV) — Rep. Ro Khanna (CA-17) announced today that Rep. Rich McCormick (GA-07) will join him as co-chair of the Congressional Caucus on India and Indian Americans in the 119th Congress. The move reflects the continued bipartisan effort to strengthen ties between the United States and India, particularly in areas of national security, defense, and economic cooperation.

The caucus, which has grown to a record 145 members, remains committed to strengthening partnerships between U.S. lawmakers and the Indian American community. It seeks to advance shared values of democracy and security, focusing on issues such as trade and technology.

“A strong partnership with India is critical for our economy and national security. I look forward to working with Rep. McCormick to continue the progress we’ve made,” Rep. Khanna said.

Representing Georgia’s 7th District, McCormick welcomed the opportunity, stating his own acknowledgment of the importance of the Indian American community in his district, and vowed further to deepen U.S.-India relations.

Representatives Andy Barr (KY-06) and Marc Veasey (TX-33) will also serve as vice co-chairs of the caucus. Barr said that the U.S.-India partnership is a vital one, and Veasey, whose district has a large Indian American population, reaffirmed his commitment to deepening ties between the two nations.

The caucus aims to build on its momentum in the 118th Congress, where 35 new members joined under the leadership of Khanna and former co-chair Rep. Michael Waltz.
