GUWAHATI, India (Diya TV)  — The internet is shutdown indefinitely in Assam’s capital city of Guwahati and troops were deployed in Assam & Tripura in response to protests triggered by the passage of India’s new citizenship amendment bill that offers a path to Indian citizenship for non-Muslim minorities from Pakistan, Afghanistan & Bangladesh. Steep criticism of the bill persists from different factions, most critically over Muslims not being included in the legislation. Indian Home Minister Amit Shah in response said Muslims “will not benefit from  this amendment because they have not been persecuted on the basis of religion.”

An Indian-American attorney from Houston is suing Target after employees at one of the retailers stores accused her of stealing a vacuum cleaner. Video evidence later proved that a man stole the vacuum & not Annie Banerjee, who filed a federal lawsuit claiming discrimination. Target has apologized for the incident.

And Amazon has greenlit an unscripted competition series about Indian wedding sangeets featuring Nick Jonas and Priyanka Chopra Jonas.
