BENGALURU, India (Diya TV) — Indian space technology startup Pixxel has raised $100 million in a Series C funding round, the largest single funding round for an Indian space technology company, according to the company.
Singapore state investor Temasek and British space investor Seraphim co-led the round. Existing investors Radical Ventures and growX Ventures participated alongside new investors 360 ONE Asset and IMM Investment.
The investment brings Pixxel’s total funding to $195 million.
Pixxel said it will use the capital to expand its satellite systems, Earth observation software and manufacturing operations in India and the United States.
The company plans to develop its next-generation Honeybee hyperspectral satellite constellation, expand into synthetic aperture radar and ultra-high-resolution optical imaging, and further develop its Aurora Earth intelligence platform. The first Honeybee satellite is expected to launch in 2027.
Pixxel was founded by Awais Ahmed and Kshitij Khandelwal and initially focused on hyperspectral Earth observation. Hyperspectral satellites collect data across numerous wavelengths of light, allowing users to identify characteristics of the Earth’s surface that may not be visible in conventional imagery.
The company has since expanded into satellite manufacturing, Earth observation software and space systems for commercial and government customers.
Over the past two years, Pixxel has deployed six Firefly hyperspectral satellites and launched its Aurora software platform. It has also secured contracts with NASA and the U.S. National Reconnaissance Office and won projects through India’s Ministry of Defence.
Pixxel was also selected to lead development of a 12-satellite public-private Earth observation constellation under India’s space regulator and promotion agency, IN-SPACe.
