SAN FRANCISCO (Diya TV) — Opendoor Technologies Inc. has named Shrisha Radhakrishna as president and interim leader after the sudden departure of Chief Executive Officer Carrie Wheeler. The San Francisco-based company announced Friday that Wheeler stepped down as CEO and chair of the board, effective immediately. She will continue as an advisor to the board through the end of 2025.
The board also appointed Eric Feder, president of LenX, Lennar Homes’ strategic investment arm, as lead independent director. The leadership changes mark a major transition for Opendoor, a Nasdaq-listed e-commerce platform that specializes in residential real estate transactions.
Opendoor confirmed that it began a CEO succession process in mid-2025, with the search firm Spencer Stuart assisting in the effort. The search for a permanent chief executive is already in progress.
Feder expressed confidence in the company’s strategy and leadership team. He said Opendoor is well-positioned to leverage its data and technology in today’s rapidly evolving artificial intelligence landscape.
“The board has conviction in the strategy, including scaling Key Connections, expanding Cash Plus across markets, and strengthening our core cash-offer business,” Feder said. “We believe the company is creating long-term value for customers, agents, and shareholders.”
Wheeler joined Opendoor six years ago as a board member. She later became chief financial officer, where she helped take the company public, and in 2022, she was named CEO. Feder praised her leadership, saying she operated with “the highest integrity” and left the company in a stronger position.
Wheeler said stepping down was the right decision for both her and the company.
“Leading Opendoor has been a true privilege,” Wheeler said. “We’ve built a stronger, more focused company, expanded our offerings, and set the stage for the future in one of the most challenging real estate markets in history. I believe now is the right moment for a leadership transition.”
Radhakrishna has been Opendoor’s chief technology and product officer since 2024. In that role, he led a team of engineers, designers, and data scientists. He focused on developing new digital products and cutting infrastructure costs.
Under his leadership, the company launched Cash Plus, a program designed to give buyers more certainty in their home purchases.
“I am incredibly excited about Opendoor’s next chapter,” Radhakrishna said. “We are not only enhancing our current products but also building the platform that defines the future of residential real estate transactions.”
As interim leader, Radhakrishna and Chief Financial Officer Selim Freiha will report directly to the board until a new CEO is appointed. Before joining Opendoor, Radhakrishna held senior technology roles at LegalZoom and Intuit. At Intuit, he helped build QuickBooks Self-Employed and QuickBooks Online, two of the company’s fastest-growing products.
He holds a bachelor’s degree in information sciences from Bangalore University in India and an MBA from Northwestern University’s Kellogg School of Management. With more than 20 years of experience, he is recognized for building digital platforms that solve complex, real-world problems.
