LOS ANGELES (Diya TV) — Norah Jones, the Grammy-winning singer-songwriter, has revealed exciting news for her fans. She announced her upcoming ninth studio album, titled ‘Visions,’ along with the release of a captivating music video for the album’s lead single, “Running.”
In a statement, the 44-year-old artist shared insights into the inspiration behind the 12-song record. “The reason I called the album Visions is because a lot of the ideas came in the middle of the night or in that moment right before sleep,” Jones explained. “‘Running’ was one of them, where you’re half asleep and kind of jolted awake.”
Collaborating closely with producer and multi-instrumentalist Leon Michels, Jones highlighted the raw and soulful nature of their creative process. “We did most of the songs in the same way, where I was at the piano or on guitar, and Leon was playing drums, and we were just jamming on stuff,” she said. The result is a vibrant and joyous album that captures the essence of feeling free, wanting to dance, making things right, and accepting what life brings.
Contributing to the musical ensemble are talented artists such as Trumpet Player Dave Guy, bassist Jesse Murphy, and drummers Brian Blade and Homer Steinweiss. This collaborative effort marks Jones’ first full-length release since 2021’s ‘I Dream of Christmas.’
‘Visions’ is scheduled for release on March 8 via Blue Note Records. Following the album drop, the daughter of famed Indian musician Ravi Shankar will embark on a North American tour in support of her latest work, with the tour set to kick off in May. Reflecting on her illustrious career, Jones reminisced about her debut album, ‘Come Away with Me,’ which celebrated its 20th anniversary in 2022. Despite the initial success and pressure, she emphasized the importance of staying true to oneself. “Trying to stay on top can be exhausting, and I never wanted that for myself,” Jones stated. “Focus on making music from your heart, and hopefully, you can get through whatever obstacles come around.”
