SOUTHLAKE, Texas (Diya TV) — Anil Kharabanda, 62, and his wife, Neeta Kharabanda, 58, were found dead in their Texas home on Tuesday, in what authorities are ruling an apparent murder-suicide. The couple wed in 1980.

Police were called to the home after a relative discovered the two dead bodies inside of their bedroom, and said Anil shot his wife before ultimately turning the gun on himself. “Preliminary evidence indicates that the male shot the female and then himself,” Southlake police said in a written statement. It added that no “outstanding suspects” were being sought out.

The couple fought multiple incidents of tension throughout their marriage, according to a report from the Dallas Morning News, and had twice filed for divorce proceedings. Neeta filed for divorce from Anil in 2003 and 2011, but ultimately withdrew her petition in both instances. A Facebook photo from Anil’s profile in 2014 reads with the caption, “Together forever,”

According to their LinkedIn profiles, Anil was last employed as a health actuary in the pharmaceuticals industry, and Neeta in the financial sector for Chase.

According to a city spokeswoman, this was the first murder in Southlake since the 2013 slaying of lawyer Juan Jesus Guerrero Chapa, whom had represented a former drug cartel chief. Chapa was ambushed by gunmen as he and his wife shopped at Southlake Town Square.

However, this is the second murder-suicide in Texas in as many months — according to a report from The Herald Democrat, Malachi Russler, 36, shot and killed his wife and two children before turning the gun on himself. Like the Kharabanda’s, the Russler family was suffering from marriage discord, and Malachi’s wife, Kelly, filed a petition for divorce in December of last year.
