NEW YORK (Diya TV) — Modus has raised $85 million in seed and Series A funding to build an AI-driven future for accounting firms. The round was led by Lightspeed Venture Partners, with participation from Comma Capital and Garry Tan. The company also announced its first investment in a CPA firm. This marks a key step in its strategy to combine software and firm ownership. Modus aims to modernize how audits are done while preserving the culture of traditional firms.

Modus calls itself an AI-native audit platform. It focuses on improving how auditors work. The company builds tools that automate manual tasks and improve risk analysis. These tools allow auditors to spend more time on judgment and decision-making.

CEO and co-founder Arush Jain said audits are critical to trust in financial markets. He noted that audit tools have not changed much over the past decades. He said the new funding will help Modus invest heavily in AI and partner with forward-thinking firms. The company blends technology with a long-term investment strategy. It partners with accounting firms instead of replacing them. Modus keeps the firms’ teams, brands, and client relationships intact. At the same time, it upgrades their systems with modern tools.

Modus launched in June 2025. Since then, it has already shown strong early results. The company invested in a top 200 accounting platform with more than $30 million in revenue. That firm is expected to double its organic growth rate in 2026.

The company said it has a strong pipeline of additional firms. It plans to continue investing in audit-focused accounting businesses. It also plans to expand its AI platform and product features. This dual strategy sets Modus apart. Many startups focus only on software. Modus combines software with ownership and partnerships. This allows it to scale faster and create a deeper impact in the accounting industry.

Public accounting has long faced challenges with outdated systems. Many firms still rely on manual processes. These workflows slow down audits and increase the risk of errors. Modus aims to solve these issues. Its platform automates routine tasks. It also improves data analysis and audit quality. The company believes this approach will make audits faster and more reliable.

Partners at Lightspeed said the accounting sector has been underserved by technology. They believe Modus can bring meaningful change. They also said the company has already improved efficiency in key audit workflows.

Modus was founded by Arush Jain, Pranav Pillai, and Vinay Kasat. The team brings experience from major firms like Palantir Technologies, Citadel, Amazon Web Services, Bridgewater Associates, and Thoma Bravo. The company also works with experienced advisors. These include former leaders from major accounting firms.
