BRUNSWICK, Maine (Diya TV) — Nirav Shah’s bid for Maine governor is off to a strong start. His campaign reports that one week after he kicked things off, Shah raised $275,000 from donors across all 16 of Maine’s counties.
“I’m humbled and energized by the support showing up from all corners of our state,” Shah said in a statement. “When we launched this campaign, I made a promise to honor what works, fix what doesn’t, and deliver results for all Mainers. These numbers tell me that Maine people believe in our vision of leadership to listen, unite, and build toward solutions together.”
The early fundraising success positions Shah as a real contender in Maine’s upcoming gubernatorial race. His campaign says the early momentum shows voters recognize his track record of leadership and problem-solving. The fundraising milestone comes on the heels of Shah’s first Team Shah Volunteer Call, held on Sunday evening. More than 70 Mainers attended the virtual event to learn how to get involved and support the campaign.
With more than seven months to go before the primary election, the campaign plans to build a grassroots movement that includes Mainers from every background and region.
“Our campaign is about bringing people together and focusing on what matters most to Maine families,” Shah said. “We’re organizing early because that’s how we make real change—by listening, working hard, and staying connected to people across our state.”
Nirav Shah is well-known across Maine for his leadership during the COVID-19 pandemic as the head of the Maine Center for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC).
Before entering the public eye, Shah built a career as an attorney, economist, and public health leader. As a candidate for governor, Shah has pledged to focus on fixing housing, funding healthcare, feeding kids, and fueling economic growth. He has also vowed to stand up to federal overreach from the Trump administration, emphasizing Maine’s right to chart its own path forward.
The campaign says it will continue to host volunteer events, community conversations, and local gatherings across the state in the coming months. Shah plans to spend time meeting voters directly and sharing his plans for improving everyday life in Maine. With months to go before the primaries, Shah’s team is focusing on building connections and expanding outreach. The campaign aims to maintain momentum by emphasizing grassroots organizing and community-driven leadership.
“I’m deeply grateful for the trust Mainers have placed in me,” Shah said. “This campaign is about all of us—about finding common ground and building a Maine where everyone can thrive.”
