CHICAGO  (Diya TV) — Indian American Congressman Raja Krishnamoorthi revealed his name was found in the notes of a man accused of carrying out a deadly political attack in Minnesota. The shooter, Vance Boelter, is facing multiple state and federal charges after a brutal assault that left two people dead and two others wounded.

Krishnamoorthi said authorities informed him that he was listed among several potential targets in documents recovered from the suspect. His statement comes just hours after Michigan Representative Shri Thanedar also said his name appeared on the same hit list.

Krishnamoorthi issued a public statement on after learning about the threat. “I have been informed that my name was included in the notes of the Minnesota suspect accused of assassinating an elected official, murdering her husband, and targeting others,” he said.

He also expressed deep concern over the violent attacks and offered his support to the victims. “This brutal attack was devastating and terrifying on many levels,” Krishnamoorthi said. “Priya and I have spent much of the last few days thinking about Rep. Hortman and her husband Mark, as well as Sen. Hoffman and his wife Yvette.”

He emphasized that political violence must be rejected at all levels. “Political violence has no place in America — full stop,” Krishnamoorthi posted on X. “Even in this time of great division, we should all agree on that.”

Vance Boelter, 57, is accused of carrying out a deadly attack on the night of June 14. According to police, he broke into the home of Melissa Hortman, Speaker of the Minnesota House, and shot both her and her husband, Mark. Authorities found both dead at the scene.

Just hours later, Boelter allegedly targeted another Democratic lawmaker, state Senator John Hoffman. Police said Hoffman and his wife, Yvette, were both shot at their home a few miles from the first attack. Both survived and are now recovering.

Law enforcement arrested Boelter the following night, on June 15. During the arrest and investigation, officers discovered a large cache of written materials at his home and in his car. These notes included the names of other potential political targets, including Krishnamoorthi and Thanedar. Authorities believe the attacks were premeditated and may have been planned over several months.

The inclusion of high-profile Indian American lawmakers in the shooter’s documents has raised alarms in Washington and across the country. Both Krishnamoorthi and Thanedar have voiced concern over the rising threat of political violence.

Thanedar also shared his reaction, stating that he was shocked to learn that his name was part of the hit list. Like Krishnamoorthi, he reaffirmed his commitment to public service and called for unity in the face of hate.

Federal and state agencies continue to investigate Boelter’s motives. While the full details remain unclear, early reports suggest political ideology may have played a role in the attacks.

The attack has sparked a new wave of discussions about the safety of public officials in the United States. Political leaders from both parties have condemned the violence and called for stronger measures to protect elected representatives.

Security protocols for lawmakers may be reexamined in light of the recent threats. Law enforcement is working to determine whether other individuals listed in Boelter’s notes are at ongoing risk.

For now, Krishnamoorthi and Thanedar are urging unity and calm. Both are continuing their public duties while cooperating with authorities.

Krishnamoorthi’s message remains clear. “We must stand together against violence and hatred,” he said. “Our democracy depends on it.”

As the investigation continues, officials hope to gain more insight into what led to the deadly Minnesota shootings and prevent future tragedies.
