KANSAS CITY, Kan. (Diya TV )— A Kansas Highway Patrol trooper saved a 6-year-old girl who had been missing for more than a month after being abducted, arresting two men during a traffic stop, authorities said Saturday.
In February, the trooper stopped an SUV for a traffic stop and saw a young girl with two men inside the vehicle, both of whom were in their 60s. During a further investigation, it was found that the front-seat passenger had a warrant from another state for kidnapping the child about a month prior.
The driver also had a criminal past, including past convictions for homicide and several weapons offenses, said the Kansas Highway Patrol. With the help of a sheriff’s deputy who is local, the trooper promptly apprehended both men and removed the child safely from the vehicle.
The girl had first given a false name and birth date, having been instructed to shield the suspect. But the trooper managed to soothe her and discover her correct identity. The child was confirmed to be the victim of the out-of-state kidnapping case and was recovered safely. Both men were arrested.
The Kansas Highway Patrol said that the traffic stop happened in February but did not give the location in order to preserve the child’s identity and integrity of the investigation that was ongoing.
