NEW DELHI (Diya TV) — India continues it’s fight to slow down global warming and remains committed to cut carbon emissions. And these bold moves are now getting praise from U.S. Special Presidential Envoy for Climate John Kerry, who also says India is already a leader in the deployment of renewable energy. Kerry is leading efforts to get countries to step up environmental commitments ahead of a global climate change summit later this month.

And India is now dealing with the dubious distinction of recording more Covid-19 cases than any other country in the world.  This week India broke it’s single day case record with more than 100,000 new infections. The surge is happening across the region in places like Pakistan and Bangladesh as well.

At least 22 members of Indian security forces were killed and dozens more injured during a four hour gun battle with Maoist insurgents. The clash happened in the central state of Chhattisgarh.  The government has been embroiled in a decades-long conflict with Maoist rebel groups, also known as Naxals, who launch attacks on government forces in an attempt to overthrow the state and usher in a classless society.
