SACRAMENTO (Diya TV) — Indian American Janani Ramachandran is another step closer to representing California’s 18th Assembly District. She managed to get enough votes to advance to a special election runoff next month to replace newly appointed Attorney General Rob Bonta. Ramachandran is considered a grassroots progressive candidate from San Francisco’s East Bay, and is the daughter of immigrants from a small South Indian village.
Amid a surge in coronavirus infections, Bangladesh is going into a nationwide lockdown at least until July 4th. All government and private offices will remain closed during this time except for emergency services. Public health officials in the country fear the pandemic could get worse before it gets better.
And 12 year old Indian American Abhimanyu Mishra is now the youngest Chess Grandmaster in history. It took Mishra 12 years, four months, and 25 days to obtain the highest title in chess. The record for youngest Grandmaster stood for 19 years.
