WASHINGTON (Diya TV) — FBI Director Kash Patel and Director of National Intelligence Tulsi Gabbard have ordered intelligence staff to ignore Elon Musk’s recent letter requesting federal employees submit five accomplishments from the previous week or be fired. This order, released shortly after Musk’s letter, highlights national security and the dissemination of sensitive information concerns.

Musk, who headed President Donald Trump’s Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE), emailed about 2.3 million federal employees on the instruction to outline their weekly accomplishments by Monday night. The email threatened that failure to comply would amount to a resignation. Although Musk stressed that answers should not include information that is classified, officials were concerned that even unclassified information might risk U.S. security should it be made public.

Gabbard accordingly instructed intelligence community officers to disregard the email in light of the inherently sensitive and classified nature of their work. Patel also seconded this argument, stating that the FBI is the only institution authorized to police its internal operations.

Other agencies have also resisted Musk’s order. The Department of Defense told its employees there was no need to respond, but State Department diplomat Tibor Nagy reassured staff that the department would deal with any responses that had to be made, stating firmly that employees are not required to report their work outside of their departmental reporting line.

The Office of Personnel Management (OPM), now under the jurisdiction of DOGE, made the mass email possible, causing confusion and alarm among federal workers. The American Federation of Government Employees union has protested Musk’s power to fire non-compliant workers, calling on members to obtain direct orders from their managers.
