PLYMOUTH COUNTY, Mass. (Diya TV) — Mohammed Wajid, a 28-year-old student from Hyderabad, was killed in a fatal car accident in Plymouth County, Massachusetts, on January 28. Wajid, a postgraduate student at Chicago, was driving a semi-truck when he failed to observe a stop sign while approaching an intersection. His truck crashed into a grain-hauling vehicle, which split right down the center. The collision set fire to the crops in fields nearby.
Wajid was taken to a hospital. He was pronounced dead shortly after the accident. Timothy Wilkin, the driver of the grain truck, was not hurt.
Wajid was a member of the NRI Minority Congress Committee in the U.S. He hailed from the Khairatabad area in Hyderabad. His death has brought out condolences from friends and colleagues, including Mohammed Shahabuddin, Telangana Congress Secretary, who shared the news on social media platform X.
“Today is a sad day for me and our entire Congress family. We’ve lost a dear friend and colleague, Mohammed Wajid, in a tragic accident in Chicago, USA. Wajid’s passion, energy, and dedication to our organization will be deeply missed,” Shahabuddin wrote.
Wajid’s parents, Muhammed Ejaz and Shamim Begum are in mourning. Arrangements are being made for the parents to travel to Chicago to bring Wajid’s body back to Hyderabad.
The incident comes on the heels of another fatal road accident in December, where 26-year-old Naga Sri Vandana Parimala, a student at the University of Memphis from India, lost her life.
