WASHINGTON D.C. (Diya TV) – Tragedy out of Philadelphia. A 66-year-old Indian gas station employee was shot to death during an armed robbery and police are searching for three men in connection with the murder. Authorities released surveillance video showing the three suspects wanted for killing Patro Siboram. The assailants got away with a cash register.
In New York, Indian-American City Councillor Shekar Krishnan is facing angry protesters after he supported drag queens reading out to children in public libraries. Krishnan came home recently to find anti-drag protesters shouting slurs and vandalizing the sidewalk outside his home in Jackson Heights. The protesters called him a pedophile and groomer when his wife and children were inside the house.
California police have identified the gunman suspected of killing 11 people in a ballroom dance studio near Los Angeles as Huu Can Tran. The 72 year old was later found dead in a white van with a self-inflicted gunshot wound. Celebrations for Lunar New Year had been under way in Monterey Park, known for its large Asian population. Police do not yet know the motive.
