DALLAS (Diya TV) — Indian American Impact celebrated victories for its endorsed candidates in Texas, marking a sign of growing Desi representation in the Lone Star state. A number of new faces are forging ahead politically in Texas, interspersed with some familiar names.

Among the political leaders that were successful on Super Tuesday was Texas 3rd District Congressional Candidate Sandeep Srivastava, Salman Bhojani in Texas House District 92, Suleman Lalani in Texas House District 76, Sherine Thomas won her race for Travis County 353rd District Judge, Taral Patel secured the Democratic nomination in the Fort Bend County Commissioner Precinct 3 race and longtime Judge Ravi Sandill will continue his service on the Harris County Civil District Court.

With over 500,000 South Asians residing in Texas, these wins reflect the growing impact of the community in state and local politics. Indian American Impact, established in 2016, has played a large role in endorsing and supporting 166 candidates nationwide, contributing to the unprecedented rise of Indian and South Asian American representation in political offices.

Impact has channeled over $20 million to candidates to bolster voter engagement and advocate for policies that resonate with South Asian Americans.

In 2022, seven out of eight Impact endorsed candidates emerged victorious, with five making history as the first South Asians elected to their respective positions, including two to the Texas state legislature.

Texas is home to the second-highest concentration of South Asians in the nation.
