NEW YORK (Diya TV) — The highly anticipated showdown between India and Pakistan will mark the inaugural spectacle of the T20 World Cup’s group stage, set to unfold at a temporary stadium on the outskirts of New York. Organizers are finalizing the tournament schedule today, in collaboration with the International Cricket Council and local committees.

The USA, co-hosting with the West Indies, will host 10 teams for their opening group-stage matches, aiming to engage the sizable cricket-loving expat communities across the nation. While some adjustments to the schedule are probable, England and Australia are slated to compete exclusively in the Caribbean.

Inspections by ICC officials across Caribbean venues have concluded with positive feedback, indicating no significant issues. Although specific venues for crucial matches remain unconfirmed, Barbados is likely to host the tournament final.

In the USA, matches will unfold across three venues: Central Broward Park in Florida, Grand Prairie Stadium in Texas, and Eisenhower Park on Long Island, strategically chosen to cater to diverse demographics, notably the sizable Indian and Pakistani populations. The marquee clash between India and Pakistan on June 9 is set to captivate cricket enthusiasts.

Eisenhower Park, expected to be ready within three months, will undergo testing phases and host warm-up matches before the tournament commences. Despite being a newcomer to international cricket hosting, the venue’s readiness is assured by renowned architecture firm Populous and turf experts Adelaide Oval Turf Solutions and LankTek Group.

Chris Tetley, the ICC’s head of events, emphasized the importance of comprehensive testing to ensure operational efficiency and fan experience. With preparations well underway, anticipation is building for a thrilling tournament that promises to unite cricket fans worldwide in the spirit of competition and camaraderie.
