NEW YORK (Diya TV) — Hanumantha Rao Narra, an IT professional who works for Cognizant Technologies, elected not to travel to India for the funerals of his wife, Sasikala Narra, 38, and son, Anish Narra, 6, held in Prakasam District of Andhra Pradesh, on Sunday.

Narra’s family received the bodies of Sasikala and Anish early Sunday morning. While Sasikala’s body was cremated, Anish’s was buried.

The mother and son were found dead by Hanumantha on the evening of March 23, both had been brutally stabbed to death at their home in Maple Shade, N.J. Autopsy reports later revealed that both had been stabbed in the face and hands repeatedly. Contrary to media reports, New Jersey police and the Burlington County Prosecutor’s Office said neither agency had barred Hanumantha from leaving the country to attend their funerals.

Joel Bewley, a public information officer with the Burlington County Prosecutor’s Office, said there have been no charges or arrests made in what had been deemed a double homicide.

CBS affiliate in Philadelphia reported that Hanumantha was having an affair with another woman at the time of the killings. “A source involved in the investigation confirms to Eyewitness News that Hanumanthu Narra was involved in a relationship with another woman as of last week, but has a strong alibi,” the outlet reported.
