WASHINGTON (Diya TV) — The Department of Defense (DoD) announced Dr. Radha Plumb will step into the role of Chief Digital and Artificial Intelligence Officer (CDAO), succeeding Craig Martell. Plumb, previously the Deputy Under Secretary of Defense for Acquisition and Sustainment, brings a wealth of expertise and experience to her new position.

At a ceremony held at the Pentagon, Secretary of Defense Lloyd J. Austin III administered the oath of office to Plumb.

With a background spanning roles at tech giants like Google and Facebook, as well as academia and government, Plumb will be in charge of leading the DoD’s efforts in integrating data, analytics, and AI. Her appointment underscores the department’s focus on leveraging cutting-edge technologies to maintain America’s military strength, while addressing emerging threats.

The CDAO was formed in June 2022. Plumb said she looks forward to building upon the foundation laid by her predecessors to ensure the integration and optimization of AI capabilities across the department.
