Odisha, INDIA (Diya TV) — Cyclone Fani, the largest cyclone to hit India in decades, claimed the lives of at least 16 people. 160 others were injured in the cyclone that peaked with wind speeds of 127 mph, the equivalent of a Category 4 hurricane. The United Nations praised India for its early warning systems and evacuation of more than a million people, which helped minimize the loss of life.

The fifth phase of the Indian election is underway. Seven states are going to the polls. Voter turnout for the first four phases is at 67%. Analysts say it’s due in large part to increased voter turnout by women. Final election results will be announced May 23.

Delta Air Lines is resuming nonstop flights from Mumbai to New York starting in December, nearly a decade after they terminated that route.
