WASHINGTON D.C. (Diya TV) – The US-India Summit on Capitol Hill wrapped up in Washington DC. focused on dialogue and networking with government leaders, experts and Indian American influencers from around the country. The Congressional Caucus on India and Indian Americans hosted the gathering that featured Congressmen Ro Khanna, former US ambassador to India and Deputy Secretary of State Richard Verma, and Indian Ambassador to the US Taranjit Singh Sandhu. 

U.S. Secretary of Commerce Gina Raimondo met virtually with Indian Minister of Commerce and Industry Piyush Goyal. The two discussed the Indo-Pacific Economic Framework for Prosperity ahead of another round of negotiations in May. Raimondo also recently met with Prime Minister Narendra Modi calling him an unbelievable visionary. 

In a victory for Indian Americans and South Asians,  the Pennsylvania House passed legislation designating Diwali, the Hindu Festival of Lights, as a state holiday. The bill’s prime sponsor is state Representative Arvind Venkat.
