NEW YORK (Diya TV) — West Indies cricket legend Chris Gayle and USA’s Ali Khan set New York aglow as they ignited the Empire State Building to launch the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2024 Trophy Tour. The tour, spanning 15 countries, including all nine host venues, gears up for the event set to take place in the West Indies and the USA.

The ceremony, held at the Empire State Building, saw Gayle and Khan illuminate the iconic skyscraper in the navy and pink hues representing the upcoming cricket extravaganza.

Following overwhelming demand, with over 3 million ticket applications, organizers have released additional tickets for 51 out of 55 matches to ensure fans have more opportunities to witness the action live.

This marks the first time an ICC World Cup will take place in the US, with a state-of-the-art 34,000-capacity stadium in Nassau County, New York, hosting eight matches. Renovated venues, Grand Prairie Cricket Stadium in Dallas and Broward County Stadium in Lauderhill, will each host four fixtures.

The Trophy Tour will traverse four continents, visiting iconic landmarks, engaging with cricket enthusiasts to spread the fervor for T20 cricket’s grandest event.

The tour, themed “Out of This World,” aims to connect with fans globally, offering them a chance to experience the excitement surrounding the tournament. Fans will have opportunities to meet cricket stars, witness cultural festivities, and capture moments with the coveted ICC Men’s T20 World Cup Trophy.

The tournament’s director, Fawwaz Baksh, emphasized the significance of the Trophy Tour, signaling the imminent arrival of the World Cup and engaging fans worldwide.

In addition to fan engagement, the tour will serve as a platform to promote cricket’s growth globally and drive positive change within communities.
