Foreign Affairs Minister Mélanie Joly announced on Thursday that Canada has withdrawn 41 diplomats from India in the past 24 hours, after the two countries failed to resolve a dispute related to Ottawa’s claims that New Delhi may have been involved in the murder of a Canadian citizen. Joly said that Canada facilitated the safe departure of these diplomats and their dependents from India, due to safety concerns as they were in danger of having their immunity stripped.
