WASHINGTON (Diya TV) — Bharat Ramamurti, former Deputy Director of the National Economic Council under the Biden administration, has been appointed Senior Adviser for Economic Strategy at the American Economic Liberties Project. The non-profit organization focuses on addressing economic justice and promoting competition in various industries. Ramamurti, known for his advocacy in economic fairness, aims to contribute to the organization’s efforts in combating growing corporate concentration and its impact on prices.

In his role, Ramamurti expressed excitement about advising an organization at the forefront of addressing crucial economic policy issues. He highlighted Economic Liberties’ achievements in curbing junk fees, supporting small businesses, and challenging anti-competitive practices. Drawing from his experience at the White House, where the Biden administration prioritized promoting competition, Ramamurti looks forward to building on that work and furthering the cause of economic equality.

Faiz Shakir, Interim Executive Director of the American Economic Liberties Project, welcomed Ramamurti’s expertise, emphasizing his role as a key architect of the Biden administration’s competition agenda. Shakir praised Ramamurti’s understanding of the importance of robust competition in fostering a healthy economy and bringing antitrust measures back to the people.

Ramamurti’s career includes serving as Deputy Director of the National Economic Council from January 2021 to August 2023. Before his White House tenure, he was senior counsel for Senator Elizabeth Warren, focusing on economic fairness and financial accountability. In 2020, he was appointed by Majority Leader Chuck Schumer to the Congressional Oversight Commission for the CARES Act, overseeing part of the government’s economic response to the COVID-19 pandemic.
