NEW DELHI (Diya TV) — Apple CEO Tim Cook met with Prime Minister Narendra Modi last weekend, the most high-profile conference slated for the executive’s agenda as he makes his trip through the country plotting the tech giant’s expansion into India.

Cook shared his expansion ideas with Modi during the meeting, and the two spoke extensively on the possibilities of bringing manufacturing and establishing a retail chain in the country. Modi shared with Cook his Digital India initiative, seeking support from Apple in furthering the fostering of the program, which ultimately aims to connect hundreds of millions of India’s residents to the internet.

Cook was also asked to explore the possibility of setting up local manufacturing facilities in India to meet the growth demands of the company’s products, according to a senior government official who spoke on the terms of anonymity.

“Thank you @tim_cook!” Modi post on his Twitter account after his meeting with the chief executive. “Your views & efforts are always enriching.”

Cook in turn took to his Twitter account, thanking the Prime Minister for his hospitality. He added, “Already looking forward to next visit to India.”
