MIAMI (Diya TV) — Indian-American physician Dr. Anjali Ramkissoon has been relieved of her duties at a Miami-area hospital in the aftermath of a YouTube video which surfaced, showing Ramkissoon in a drunken rampage with an Uber driver. Her misbehavior was caught on video and became a YouTube sensation almost overnight. Despite all the support from her neighbors and family members vouching for her character, the incident has cost her dearly. Her employer the hospital in Miami recently terminated her permanently.
The video surfaced on YouTube about three months ago, and showed her screaming profanities and hitting the Uber driver.
Jackson Health System officials released a statement Friday saying the fourth-year neurology resident was being released because of her actions in the incident. She’s been on administrative leave since the video was released in January, according to the Miami Herald. The two-sentence statement did say that Ramkissoon will be entitled to an appeal of the ruling.
During the incident, when police arrived on scene, Ramkissoon was placed in the back of a police car while a brief investigation took place. Ramkissoon apologized to the Uber driver who chose not to press charges. Her neighbors and family members her spoke in her defense. Ramkissoon even appeared on Good Morning America, to explain the situation and offer an apology.
“There’s absolutely no excuse for my actions,” she said. “I’m ashamed. I’m so sorry. I’ve hurt so many people.”
