SACRAMENTO, Calif. (Diya TV) — Rep. Ami Bera (D-Calif.) enters the final quarter of 2025 with nearly $2 million in campaign cash on hand. The strong financial position highlights Bera’s readiness to compete in the upcoming elections under California’s newly redrawn congressional map.
With Proposition 50 expected to pass and reshape California’s districts, Bera is prepared to run in either the new California Third or Sixth Congressional District. Both districts have a Democratic baseline, giving Bera a solid opportunity to continue representing the Sacramento region.
Nonpartisan analysts predict that the new 3rd District will have a D+6 baseline. President Joe Biden is estimated to have carried this area by roughly 10 points in the 2024 election. Only one Republican, Lanhee Chen, has carried the new 3rd District in the past decade during the 2022 Controller’s race.
The new 6th District carries a similar D+6 baseline. President Biden’s estimated performance there in 2024 was about eight points. Bera has already represented roughly 60% of either district at some point during his time in Congress. This familiarity gives him an advantage in connecting with voters in both areas.
Bera has already outperformed expectations in the current CA-06 district. He exceeded President Biden’s baseline by approximately 2.4 points, showing he can grow support beyond a typical Democratic candidate. This overperformance was particularly notable in swing neighborhoods.
Bera’s campaign highlights his proven ability to reach across the aisle and win support in diverse communities. Analysts see his current fundraising and voter outreach as signs of strong competitiveness in the newly drawn districts.
“Our campaign is ready to win and help Democrats take back the House majority so we can hold Donald Trump accountable and deliver real results for the American people,” Bera said in a statement. “I’m proud of my record of getting things done even in the face of partisan gridlock — and I’ll keep fighting to make government work for hardworking families, end the dysfunction in Washington, and deliver for the greater Sacramento region, whether it’s in the new Third District or the new Sixth.”
