SAN FRANCISCO (Diya TV) Karina Jadhav, a 6-year-old resident of Irvine, Calif., recently finished near the top of the leaderboard in the U.S. Kids Golf California State Invitational and IMG Junior World Championships.
During last month’s two-round state invitational at the Rio Hondo Golf Club in Downey, Calif., Jadhay placed third in the girls 7 and under group with a final score of six over par, just one stroke behind second place Zoe Kung and 12 strokes shy of the winner, Asterisk Talley.
At the world championships, a three-round tournament this month that was held at the Colina Park Golf Course in San Diego, she took fourth in the field of girls age 6 and younger. Her 10-over performance was just eight strokes off the winning pace.
She played challenging rounds of golf for three straight days of 54-hole stroke play and displayed incredible perseverance under the guidance of daddy caddy (Amit Jadhav), her mother, Smeeta Jadhav said.
Jadhav, who trains at the Oak Creek golf course in Irvine daily, is preparing to enter first grade this fall. In order to meet the demands of Karina’s golf training, her mom has quit her job, getting her daughter a golf simulator to use at home to train when she can’t be on the course.
Jadhay already possesses a drive that travels greater than 130 yards, showcased when she took home second-place honors in the driving contest for girls aged 7 to 9. Off the golf course, the youngster enjoys swimming, gymnastics, dancing, piano and art.
