EAST PALESTINE, Ohio (Diya TV) — San Francisco 49ers owner Jed York pleaded no contest Monday to misdemeanor charges after police arrested him over the weekend in Ohio. The case began with a prostitution charge, but prosecutors later changed that charge to disorderly conduct.

York, 46, also pleaded no contest to possessing criminal tools. He received a one-day jail sentence for each offense. However, the court ordered the sentences to run at the same time. York received credit for the one day he already spent in custody.

The NFL team owner also paid a $1,150 fine. He had posted a $5,000 bond after his Sunday arrest in East Palestine.

The records show that authorities seized $160 from York during the arrest. Under the agreement, officials will give that money to the Mahoning Valley Human Trafficking Task Force.

York also received his cellphone back after the case moved forward. In addition, he completed an online course required under the agreement.

The court outcome does not include a conviction on the original prostitution charge. Instead, York entered no-contest pleas to the amended misdemeanor charges.

The San Francisco 49ers and the NFL had not immediately issued public comments on the case.

York has played a major role in the 49ers organization for more than a decade. He took control of the team’s day-to-day operations from his parents in 2008. He later became the team’s principal owner in 2024.

The franchise struggled during some of York’s early years in charge. However, the team found greater stability after hiring coach Kyle Shanahan and general manager John Lynch in 2017.

Since then, the 49ers have remained one of the NFL’s regular contenders. The team reached the Super Bowl three times during York’s leadership.

San Francisco lost the Super Bowl after the 2012 season under coach Jim Harbaugh. The 49ers then returned to the championship game after the 2019 and 2023 seasons under Shanahan and Lynch. They lost both games.

York also oversaw the development of Levi’s Stadium in Santa Clara, California. The 49ers moved from San Francisco to the new stadium in 2014.

The stadium has since hosted several major sporting events. Those events include two Super Bowls, a FIFA World Cup match, and a College Football Playoff championship game.

York’s Ohio case now moves forward after his no-contest pleas and sentencing.

The 49ers and the NFL have not commented following York’s arrest and court appearance.
