SAN FRANCISCO (Diya TV) – International donors committed more than $10 billion dollars to help Pakistan recover from record flooding last year, exceeding its external financing goals and paving the way for a new model on raising funds to fight climate disasters in poorer countries. Officials from some 40 countries as well as private donors and international financial institutions gathered at a meeting in Geneva as Islamabad sought funds to cover around half of a bill amounting to $16.3 billion dollars. 

A former Maoist guerrilla who led a decade-long insurgency against Nepal’s Hindu monarchy was appointed prime minister of the country for a third time. Party officials say Pushpa Kamal Dahal will head the new government for the first half of the five-year term with the support of the opposition Communist Unified Marxist-Leninist party and some other smaller groups.

From ownership to coaches, South Asians are representing in this year’s NFL Playoffs. Jacksonville Jaguars owner and Pakistani American Shahid Khan and Indian American Seattle Seahawks coaches Sanjay Lal and Sean Desai will be getting a lot of support from the diaspora.
