CINCINNATI, Ohio (Diya TV) — 39-year-old biotech entrepreneur and former Republican presidential candidate Vivek Ramaswamy has officially entered the 2026 Ohio governor’s election. He filed the necessary paperwork with the Ohio Secretary of State on February 14 and will officially began his campaign on February 24 in Cincinnati, Ohio, his hometown.

The campaign will begin with a rally at CTL Aerospace Inc. in Cincinnati before Ramaswamy takes to the road in Columbus, Toledo, and Cleveland over the next two days. His campaign will work to make Ohio a center of production and innovation and revive the state’s economic plan.

Ramaswamy is running against Republican primary candidate Dave Yost of Ohio’s Office of the Attorney General and Heather Hill, former president of the Morgan County School Board, in the GOP primary. Ohio Secretary of State Frank LaRose and Treasurer Robert Sprague are also Ramaswamy allies.

Sprague, who first considered a gubernatorial campaign, has stepped aside to run for office as Secretary of State and said he would not be an official candidate but would instead offer his full support for Ramaswamy’s candidacy. Democrat Dr. Amy Acton, former director of the Ohio Department of Health, is running in the Democrat camp and will officially announce her candidacy.

The Indian American Ohio native began his campaign as a gubernatorial candidate after recently departing President Donald Trump’s Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE), a startup program led by Elon Musk.
