NEW YORK (Diya TV) — Democrat Vik Vilkhu has emerged victorious as the Brighton Town Judge in upstate New York, making him the first Indian American Sikh Judge to take office. Vilkhu was endorsed by Jeremy Cooney, who himself is the first Indian American and AAPI elected to New York Government from upstate New York.

Vik Vilkhu brings a wealth of experience to propel the Brighton Town Court. Following his tenure with the ACLU and the U.S. Army, Vik served as a Monroe County District Attorney, handling over 7000 cases, including some of the most severe felonies in the County. Transitioning into private practice, he continued to demonstrate his leadership by heading trial teams for a broad spectrum of clients, ranging from global corporations to local professionals in need

The role of Brighton Town Justice involves the oversight of numerous criminal and civil cases. State Senator Jeremy Cooney affirms Vik is unequivocally “the best candidate for the job.”
