LOS ANGELES (Diya TV) — Vice President Kamala Harris delivered a call to action during the opening segment of the 55th NAACP Image Awards, urging Americans to register to vote or verify their registration status ahead of the upcoming November election. In a surprise video appearance alongside Queen Latifah, the Vice President emphasized the critical importance of civic engagement and directed viewers to Visit Vote.gov for registration.

Harris’s plea aligns with her commitment to safeguarding voting rights and promoting voter registration. Last month, she convened a meeting with leaders dedicated to protecting voting rights and facilitating voter registration, unveiling new initiatives aimed at ensuring Americans have unfettered access to necessary voting information.

Throughout her tenure, Harris has been at the forefront of the fight for voting rights, working with President Biden to advance the voting rights of all Americans. She has been on numerous nationwide tours to engage students and young leaders on issues such as voting rights, civic engagement, and social justice.

Harris has also convened meetings with state legislators and members of Congress across the country to address voting rights issues and collaborating to combat voter suppression tactics.

At the NAACP Image Awards, Harris’s message resonated strongly, emphasizing the pivotal role each individual plays in shaping the future of democracy. The ceremony, which celebrates outstanding achievements and performances of people of color in the arts, provided a platform for Harris to amplify the importance of civic engagement.
