NEW DELHI (Diya TV) — Senior U.S. officials will travel to India later this month to take part in the AI Impact Summit, as Washington and New Delhi push deeper cooperation on artificial intelligence, trade, and technology standards. The U.S. delegation will be led by Michael Kratsios, director of the White House Office of Science and Technology Policy and assistant to the U.S. president. Senior policy adviser Sriram Krishnan will also join the delegation for talks on global AI cooperation and emerging standards.

The summit will take place from Feb. 16 to Feb. 20 and is expected to draw policymakers, industry leaders, and technology experts from around the world. Kratsios said the United States wants to share its approach to artificial intelligence with global partners. In a post on X, he said the country is “setting the gold standard for AI innovation.”

During the summit, Kratsios is expected to give an update on the America AI Exports program. Former President Donald Trump created the program through an executive order. The initiative aims to promote the adoption of U.S. technology stacks and AI systems across global markets.

Krishnan said he was “excited to be a part of the U.S. delegation” attending the summit in India. He is expected to focus on global AI cooperation, responsible innovation, and shared standards that support growth and trust. Other members of the delegation include Undersecretary of State for Economic Affairs Jacob Helberg, Undersecretary of Commerce for International Trade William Kimmitt, and Undersecretary of Commerce for Industry and Security Jeffrey Kessler.

The AI Impact Summit is one of the world’s largest gatherings focused on artificial intelligence policy and industry leadership. It brings together governments, technology firms, researchers, and civil society groups. This year’s summit is significant because it marks the first time the event is being held in the Global South. Organizers say the move reflects the growing role of emerging economies in shaping the future of AI.

India has positioned itself as a major player in the global technology ecosystem. The country has expanded its digital public infrastructure and increased investments in AI research, startups, and talent development. Hosting the summit gives India a platform to influence global discussions on AI governance, innovation, and ethical use.

The U.S. delegation’s visit comes soon after India and the United States signed a major bilateral trade deal. Under the agreement, the U.S. cut reciprocal tariffs on Indian goods to 18 percent from 25 percent. The deal also aims to eliminate several non-tariff barriers. India agreed to reduce its own trade restrictions and increase purchases of U.S. energy, technology, and agricultural products.

Officials on both sides see the agreement as a boost to economic ties and a signal of closer strategic alignment. The timing of the AI Impact Summit adds weight to those efforts. Leaders plan to link trade, technology, and innovation as part of a broader partnership.

Members of the U.S. delegation will also take part in meetings in New Delhi alongside the U.S. ambassador to India. These engagements will focus on technology cooperation, economic policy, and security-related issues tied to advanced technologies. Officials are expected to discuss supply chains, export controls, and the safe deployment of AI systems across borders. The talks will also explore how India and the U.S. can work together on global AI standards that balance innovation with accountability.
