WASHINGTON (Diya TV) — President Donald Trump has launched a new government-backed website, TrumpRx.gov, aimed at helping Americans find lower prices on prescription drugs. The site is part of Trump’s renewed push to cut drug costs, a long-standing issue in the United States, where patients often pay more for medicines than people in other developed nations. Trump unveiled the platform at the White House, calling it a major step toward easing financial pressure on families. He said the website would allow people to save “a lot of money” on commonly used medications, starting immediately.
TrumpRx.gov is a public website designed to show discounted prices for dozens of prescription drugs. The platform does not sell medicines directly. Instead, it directs users to outside pharmacies and partner websites where they can buy drugs at reduced prices.
According to Reuters, the site is powered by the discount platform GoodRx. It focuses mainly on Americans who pay cash for prescriptions rather than using health insurance. Because of that, purchases made through the site may not count toward insurance deductibles.
The White House said the website will list eligible medications, their prices, and the companies that agreed to take part in the program.
Sixteen major pharmaceutical companies have signed pricing agreements with the Trump administration. The list includes Eli Lilly, Novo Nordisk, Merck, Pfizer, AstraZeneca, and GSK.
Under the agreements, companies agreed to cut prices for certain government health programs. They also agreed to offer lower prices to consumers who use TrumpRx.gov. Trump described the deals as “the largest reduction in prescription drug prices in history,” adding that the impact would be unmatched. The administration says these agreements mark the start of a broader effort to ensure Americans pay the lowest drug prices in the world.
The website features discounts on drugs used to treat widespread conditions. These include diabetes, asthma, heart disease, and hepatitis C. Weight-loss and obesity drugs from Eli Lilly and Novo Nordisk also appear on the site.
Government estimates suggest that some weight-loss drugs could cost between $149 and $350 per month through the program. Trump also highlighted sharp reductions for insulin and inhalers. He said insulin prices dropped from about $200 to $25. He said some inhalers made by AstraZeneca fell from roughly $458 to $51. The administration says these cuts could bring fast relief to people who struggle to afford routine medications.
The website launch included appearances by Dr. Mehmet Oz, head of the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services, and Joe Gebbia, the Airbnb co-founder. Gebbia also serves as a director at the National Design Studio. Gebbia demonstrated the site’s usability and said the design focuses on simplicity. The goal, he said, is to help users find savings quickly without confusion.
Health policy experts urge caution. Some say it remains unclear how much consumers will actually save. Juliette Cubanski of KFF said there is “a real question” about how useful the site will be for people who already have health insurance. Since the platform targets cash-paying users, insured patients may see limited benefits. Still, supporters argue that even insured Americans often face high out-of-pocket costs and could benefit from transparent pricing.
TrumpRx.gov fits into Trump’s wider healthcare and economic agenda. He has repeatedly criticized drug pricing practices and accused pharmaceutical companies of overcharging Americans. In recent days, Trump has also remained active on foreign policy issues. He publicly endorsed Japanese Prime Minister Sanae Takaichi ahead of a snap general election in Japan, calling her a strong leader and praising her record. While unrelated to healthcare, the endorsement shows Trump’s continued engagement in global affairs as he promotes domestic policy initiatives like TrumpRx.
The White House says more drugs and manufacturers could join TrumpRx.gov in the coming months. Officials describe the launch as an early phase rather than a finished product. For now, the administration hopes the site will give Americans a new tool to compare prices and reduce prescription drug costs, an issue that affects millions of households across the country.
