WASHINGTON (Diya TV) — Donald Trump was sworn in on January 20 as the 47th President of the United States during a historic inauguration at the U.S. Capitol. He returned to the presidency after an oath of office administered by Chief Justice John Roberts.
Trump declared the dawn of a “golden age of America.” He promised to restore national greatness and reaffirmed his commitment to the “America First” agenda. “America will soon be greater, stronger, and far more exceptional than ever before,” Trump said during his inaugural address.
The ceremony further involved Vice President J.D. Vance taking the oath while former President Joe Biden and incumbent Vice President Kamala Harris peacefully handed over the mantle. Attendants included some past Presidents, such as Bill Clinton, George W. Bush, and Barack Obama, as well as family members of President Trump and many important figures from his campaign team, such as technology businessman Elon Musk.
Trump’s speech touched on sovereignty, justice, and the promise of a united nation. Reflecting on the assassination attempt that nearly killed him, Trump said, “My life was saved for a reason: to make America great again.” He also vowed to end what he called the weaponization of the government and Justice Department.
With an economic revival and international respect in mind, Trump promised to make a country that would be “proud, prosperous, and free.” Upon assuming office, Trump underscored national unity and unprecedented success.
