WASHINGTON (Diya TV) — House Speaker Mike Johnson spoke about issues Monday concerning a recent security breach where top Trump administration officials unknowingly sent out classified information through an unsecured medium, mistakenly sending a journalist in the message.

The leak happened when officials, including Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth, Vice President J.D. Vance and National Security Adviser Michael Waltz, chatted in an encrypted Signal conversation about sensitive information regarding future airstrikes in Yemen. Without knowing it, The Atlantic editor-in-chief Jeffrey Goldberg was accidentally included in the conversation, revealing details on weapons, targets, and timing.

When asked about the incident, Speaker Johnson recognized the error but pointed to the administration’s dedication to fixing the problem. “They’re going to trace that down and ensure that doesn’t occur again,” he said. He went on to emphasize the success of the mission itself, saying, “No one was put at risk because of it. We’re thankful for that, but they will, I’m sure, definitely ensure that that doesn’t occur.

Johnson did not fault the way the information was handled, noting that the administration had acknowledged the mistake and is working to avoid similar incidents in the future. “I think the administration has admitted it was a mistake. And they’ll clamp down and ensure it doesn’t happen again,” he said. The unintentional presence of a reporter in such a delicate conversation has created bipartisan alarm.

Some lawmakers are demanding investigations into the leak, citing the need for accountability and more stringent protocols to protect classified information. This development contributes to controversies surrounding the treatment of classified material in the administration.
