SAN JOSE, Calif. (Diya TV) — Three men have been arrested in connection with a string of burglaries targeting the Asian American and Pacific Islander (AAPI) community in San Jose and surrounding cities. The suspects, identified as 25-year-old Alberto Ibarra Vallejo, 28-year-old Gonzalo Valencia Ramos, and 46-year-old Jaime Martinez Arroyo, were arrested after search warrants were executed across the South Bay region on January 16. The arrests followed a six-month investigation by San Jose Police and several local agencies.
According to authorities, the three are part of a larger, “prolific” burglary crew responsible for nearly 80 break-ins, primarily in West San Jose, Cupertino, Saratoga, Mountain View, and Campbell. The group targeted high-value items, including jewelry, purses, and firearms, often entering homes through rear yards or sliding glass doors. Authorities estimate the stolen goods are worth $1 million.
San Jose Police Chief Paul Joseph described a “really sophisticated crew” that targeted houses thought to have AAPIs in them. A doorbell camera captured footage of one of the burglars, who San Jose Police Chief Joseph described as a “really sophisticated crew. ” This has broken the case of burglars.
The suspects are being charged with 72 counts of felony burglary. The district attorney’s office will decide if life sentences will be served.
San Jose Mayor Matt Mahan credited law enforcement. “If you come here to commit a crime, you will be caught,” he said.
Additional members of the crew are still being sought. Those with information should contact local law enforcement.
